The program of handing over educational help to the poor and needy children of Milagres parish was held on August 22, 2018, morning at 10.30, in the Parish Hall.
Rev Fr Valerian D’Souza – Parish Priest, Rev Fr Edwin Monis – Asst Parish Priest, Mrs Cecilia Pereira – Vice President, Mr. Ivan Fernandes – Secretary and the Finance Committee members, Mr. J.B. Mascarenhas and Mrs. Agatha D’Souza were present.
The parents and students from 84 families of Milagres who had applied for the Scholarship were called and 75 families were present.
The program began with a short prayer led by the Parish Priest. Parish Priest greeted the families and welcomed them. He briefed them that this educational help is given to Milagres children so that they study and have a good future. Parish Priest spoke to the parents advising them to spend more time with their children at home and to discuss with them their daily activities and the importance of their good performance in studies. Also, that they should guide them in the use of mobile and television, correct them in their mannerisms and to show respect to the elders.
In the same way, Parish Priest advised the children that it is most important to show love and respect to their parents and to obey them; to communicate with them if any difficulty or problem as they are their parents and right people to guide them. Father also advised them to put in more time and mind to studies and get good grades; if they work hard and lead a disciplined life they can achieve success and accomplish a brighter future.
Parish Priest thanked the Council members and the Committee for their helping hand to process and finalise the applications.
Parish Priest handed over the cheques with a few words of advice to each of them.
Refreshments were served and the program concluded at 11.30 am.
