On 19th October 2019 the program of handing over educational help by way of cheques to the poor and needy children of Milagres Parish was held at 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The eligible and deserving 72students along with their parents were present to receive the Scholarship.
The Chief Guest, Dr Edward Fernandes was present along with Dr Neevan D’Souza. Rev Fr. Joseph Lobo – Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Anil Pinto – Asst Parish Priest, Mrs Cecilia Pereira – Vice President, Mr. Deepak D’Souza – Secretary of the Parish Council and the Finance Committee members, Mr. J.B. Mascarenhas and Mrs Wilma Andrade were present to facilitate this program.
The program began with a short prayer led by Fr. Anil Pinto, Asst. Parish Priest. Father welcomed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest. The Parish Priest honoured them with a bouquet of flowers.
Fr. Anil Pinto introduced the Chief Guest, citing his profession & achievements and his involvement with the youth.
Father explained the purpose of this Scholarship program which is held every academic year to help and encourage the poor school going children to study and have a good future.
The Chief Guest, in his message, expressed the values of education and how each of them should work hard and make the best use of this financial help by getting good grades.
The Parish Priest advised the parents to spend more time with their children at home and to discuss with them their daily activities and the importance of their good performance in studies and teach them to show respect to the elders.
In the same way, Parish Priest advised the children that it is most important to show love and respect to their parents and to obey them; to communicate with them if any difficulty or problems as their parents are the right people to guide them. Parish Priest also advised them to put in more time and mind to their studies and get good grades.
Parish Priest thanked the Council members and the Committee for their helping hand to process and finalise the applications.
The cheques were presented by the Chief Guest and the dignitaries beginning with 3 toppers from Xth, STD, PUC and Degree students.
Refreshments were served and the program concluded at 3pm.
