“Give me one generation of youth and I’ll transform the whole world”
Milagres Youth ICYM celebrated Youth Day 2020 on 26th January, which marks a day dedicated to all the youth of the Milagres Parish.
Eucharistic celebration for youth day was celebrated on 7am mass and the youth gathered in the church taking active part in the choir, liturgy and prayer. After the mass, all the youth gathered together to have a group picture with their directors and animators; followed by the breakfast.
Cultural program of Youth Day 2020 was observed on same day at 6:30 pm in Milagres degree hall. The program began with the formal function with Ms.Edreena as the host. Ms. Samantha Sequeira , President of Milagres-youth welcomed the Chief Guest Mr. Stany Baretto, President of the program Rev.Fr.Joseph Lobo , asst. director Rev.Fr. Anil F Pinto , Vice president of Parish council Mr. Nigel Pereira , Secretary of Parish council Mrs.Hilda Rodrigues, convenor of the program Mr. Carlton Sequeira, Mrs.Nancy Menezes, ex youth Animators and all the people gathered Further, Ms.Olinda Fernandes read the annual report of youth 2019-20 and Mr.Lanlyn Samuel D’Souza presented it through projector presentation. Mr.Stany Baretto thanked for being invited as the chief guest. He gave us brief explanation of international youth day which started on 1984 and the same being carried out now as well. He admired youths for taking active part in various activities in and around the Parish
Rev.Fr. Joseph Lobo addressed the gathering and encouraged the youths. Meanwhile, Stany Baretto scholarship was given to the highest score in the respective courses. Formal function concluded by the vote of thanks by Ms.Jeen D’Souza.
Youth entertained the audience by organizing programs such as singing Konkani Mando, recreation by performing solo dance, lazy dance & main dance, fete to celebrate their youthfulness and fellowship by presenting a meaningful skit – ‘unity in diversity’. Medal and certificate of appreciation were distributed to the children who won on the children’s sports day organized by Milagres youth on 24th Nov 2019.
The program was successful by the tireless support of Fr.Anil F Pinto-asst parish priest, Mrs. Cecilia Faridha Goveas-youth animator and Mr.Aeren & Mr.Ronald co-animators. We thank DJ Ronald for the beautiful DJ night. We thank Rev. Fr. Michael Santhumayor principal of degree college for giving us the hall for the conduction of the youth day. Mr.Christopher and team for the singing, Mr. Daniel and team for the dance, Mrs.Irol & Anna for the certificate distribution and Mr Lanlyn Samuel D’Souza for the designing of invitation, posters, banner and certificates.
People had the postive feedback on the youth day 2020 and Mrs.Nancy Menezes appreciated & admired the youth. All enjoyed this programme and look forward to meet again to strengthen the ICYM Milagres. To mark the day, a group picture was clicked with the chief guest and animators.
