  2. Holy Mother the Church strongly recommends that her faithful should make at least one Retreat annually which will benefit them spiritually.  Accordingly we have organized the Lenten Retreat in our Parish from Friday, 16th to Monday, 19th February 2018 in the evenings between 4.45p.m. to 8.30p.m.  in the open-air Church Ground.  Rev.Fr. Anand Reddy, Director, Retreat Centre, Andhra Pradesh, will lead the Retreat in English which will be translated in Konkani.  I strongly recommend that all the Parishioners should attend the Retreat. You are requested to park the Vehicles in the Milagres School Grounds.  If elderly/sick persons wish to attend the Retreat, their Vehicles will be allowed through St. Monica Chapel Gate.  Please collect the Vehicle Pass from the Office on Thursday.  Coming Saturday and Sunday evening Masses both English and Konkani stands cancelled because of Retreat.  We have sunday Mass together with Retreat in Konkani.
  3. Catechism children will have exam tomorrow/today in their respective classes at 8.15a.m.   All the children should attend the exam without fail. On Sunday, 25th February we are celebrating the Catechism day during 9.30a.m. Mass.
  1. Season of Lent: We begin the Holy Season of Lent with Ash Wednesday on 14th February 2018.   Lent is a

season  of  grace  which  guides  all  the  faithful  to  celebrate  the  Easter Mystery namely Passion, Death

and Resurrection of Christ. On Ash-Wednesday Holy Masses: 6.00a.m., 7.00a.m., 8.00a.m. (in English),

5.00p.m. & 6.00p.m.  Ashes will be imposed during all the Masses.

  1. In Lent Ash-Wednesday and Good-Friday are days of fasting and all Fridays are days of abstinence.   The age group between 18 to 59 years are bound by the church law of fasting and all who have completed 14 years are bound by abstinence rule.
  2. Way of the Cross:

Morning at 6.30a.m. , 7.30a.m. and evening at 5.45p.m. inside the Church.

Sundays at 4.30p.m. inside the Church

Note: Coming Friday on 16th, Way of the Cros at  5.30p.m. because of the Retreat.

 

  1. The feast of the Relic(tongue) of St. Antony will be celebrated on Thursday, 15th February during 6.00p.m. Mass in the open-air Church Ground.   You are requested to park the Vehicles in the Milagres School Ground.
  2. Tomorrow/today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Tomorrow/today evening at 4.30p.m. we have the recitation of Rosary in front of the Grotto organized by Lourdes Ward members to honour their Ward Patroness.  All are welcome to join the Rosary which will be followed by Holy Eucharist at 5.00p.m.
  3. Milagres Church is organizing a Pilgrimage to Europe, especially where Mother Mary has appeared as part of the spiritual journey of the year of Rosary.  The Programme includes Italy, Rome, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, etc. The duration of the Tour is 15 days and 16 nights.  Those who wish to join this Pilgrimage Group, kindly register your name by 25th February 2018 in the Parish Office.
  4.   St. Joseph’s Inter-Diocesan Seminary, Jeppu, Mangalore has organized ‘CANDLE LIT ROSARY’ on Ash         Wednesday, 14th February, at 7.00p.m. at St. Joseph Church open grounds.    Details refer the Notice    Board.
  1.   The Catholic Sabha, Mangalore, is organizing a Conference for the Canara Catholic Women of the Diocese    of Mangalore on Sunday, 4th March 2018 at St. Agnes Special School Grounds, Bendur, Mangalore.  The

Programme timing is 9.00a.m. to 1.00p.m. During this Programme outstanding Women Achievers in

different field will be Honored, like Agriculture, Business, Health, Social Service, Education, Arts &  Culture,

Govt. Service, Sports,    Professional, Philanthropist promoting women empowerment.  Each Parish is

required to forward the names of the Achievers from the Parish.  I request all the Gurkars to identify the

deserving women in their respective Ward and  forward the   names to the Church Office.  The final list will

be prepared in consultation with Gurkars on    Wednesday, at 6.00p.m. to be forwarded to the

Organizers. Details refer the Notice Board.
