May 13th of every year is observed as Mother’s day. Mother’s day celebration is one of the many programmes by the Ladies Social Service League.
The L.S.S.L Unit of Milagres Parish was very enthusiastic and happy to celebrate Mother’s day, planned well in advance and executed it.
Over 100 mothers assembled at 9.30 a.m. at the Milagres church for the Holy Eucharist followed by a get together at the Parish hall.
The Master of ceremonies for the programme Mrs. Nancy Menezes started the programme with a hymn on mothers followed by the welcome address by the President L.S.S.L Mrs. Zita Farias. A welcome song sung by the members of the L.S.S.L. The chief guest of the day Mrs. Shaila Crasta a teacher and a mother herself spoke on the role of mothers in family and society. Games were conducted by Mrs. Rennie Correa and spot games by Mrs. Zita Farias. Our Parish Priest and Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Valerian D’Souza spoke on the greatness of mothers and appreciated them.
A scene of washing of the feet of a mother by her daughter was enacted. A humourous skit was enacted by the members Mrs. Lorna and party. All mothers participated actively.
